FAQs

Getting Started

Where are you based?

My gym is based in Hastings, Hawke’s Bay. However, I can also travel to you if required - contact me today and let’s chat.

What should I expect during my first session?

Your first session will begin with a comprehensive fitness assessment where we'll discuss your health history, fitness goals, and any limitations or concerns. We'll perform basic movement screens and fitness tests to establish your baseline. This helps me to create a personalised workout plan that's both safe and effective for your current fitness level.

Do I need to be in shape before starting personal training?

Absolutely not! Personal training is designed to meet you exactly where you are in your fitness journey. Whether you're a complete beginner or returning to exercise after a break, I'll create a programme that's appropriate for your current fitness level and gradually progress from there.

What should I bring to my sessions?

Bring a water bottle, a towel, and wear comfortable workout clothes and supportive athletic shoes. If you have any specific equipment preferences or medical devices, please bring those as well. We provide all necessary exercise equipment.

Training Programmes & Scheduling

How often should I train with a personal trainer?

Most clients see excellent results training 2-3 times per week, supplemented by additional workouts on their own. However, the frequency depends on your goals, schedule, and budget. I can create effective programmes whether you train with me once a week or every day.

Can I train with a friend or partner?

Yes! I offer small group training sessions for 2-3 people. This can be a great way to stay motivated, have fun, and share the cost of training while still receiving personalised attention and instruction.

How far in advance do I need to schedule sessions?

I recommend booking at least 24-48 hours in advance to ensure your preferred time slot is available. Regular clients can book recurring weekly sessions to guarantee their preferred schedule.

What's your cancellation policy?

I require at least 24 hours notice for cancellations to avoid being charged for the session. I understand that emergencies happen, and I'll work with you on a case-by-case basis for unexpected situations.

Pricing & Packages

How much does personal training cost?

Rates vary depending on the package you choose and session frequency. I offer competitive pricing with package deals that provide better value for multiple sessions. Check out the Services page or contact me to discuss which option works best for your budget and goals.

Do you offer any discounts or special packages?

I offer discounted rates for package purchases. I also have introductory packages for new clients and occasionally run seasonal promotions.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept cash and bank transfers. Individual sessions will be invoiced within two working days following the session with payment required within seven days. Packages will be invoiced in advance.

Training Approach & Results

What types of training do you specialize in?

I specialize in functional fitness, strength training, weight loss, muscle building, sports conditioning, and corrective exercise. My approach is personalized to your goals, whether that's general fitness, injury recovery, or lifestyle improvement.

How quickly will I see results?

Most clients begin to feel stronger and more energetic within 2-3 weeks, with visible changes typically appearing after 4-6 weeks of consistent training. Results vary based on your starting point, goals, consistency, nutrition, and other lifestyle factors. We'll track your progress together to celebrate improvements along the way.
